Extension Requested in Nutrition Labeling Rule; FSIS Hosting September 14 Webinar

As the nutrition labeling implementation deadline of Jan. 1, 2012 draws near and approved Point-of-Purchase is still underway, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association has joined industry partners to submit a formal request for USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to exercise enforcement discretion for a six-month period following the Jan. 1, 2012 effective date of the final rule. We are still awaiting confirmation on the extension; an eBlast will be distributed once a decision is made. FSIS is also hosting a webinar September 14 at 2 p.m. ET to provide guidance on meeting the requirements of the new regulations.
